PASTURE-RAISED RABBIT IS FINALLY IN STOCK!
Hey y’all,
We’ve got something new available at Forester Family Farm!
Our pasture-raised rabbit is finally in stock!
We’ve been looking forward to adding rabbit to the farm, and our first batch is now available to order. We have a limited supply, so if you’ve been wanting to give rabbit a try, we recommend ordering while we still have it available.
Why Rabbit?
Rabbit is a lean, protein-rich meat with a mild flavor that makes it surprisingly versatile in the kitchen.
If you’ve never cooked rabbit before, don’t let it intimidate you. Think of it a lot like cooking chicken. It works especially well in the kind of hearty, home-cooked meals many of us grew up eating here in the Ozarks.
5 Easy Ways to Cook Rabbit
1. Rabbit & Dumplings
If you like chicken and dumplings, this is a great place to start. Slowly cook the rabbit until tender, remove the meat from the bones, and use it just like chicken in your favorite dumpling recipe.
2. Fried Rabbit
An old-fashioned favorite. Season and bread the rabbit pieces just like fried chicken, then fry until golden and cooked through. Serve it with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans for a true country meal.
3. Slow-Cooker Rabbit
Probably one of the easiest ways to try rabbit for the first time. Put it in the Crock-Pot with potatoes, carrots, onions, broth and your favorite seasonings, then let it cook low and slow until tender.
4. Country Rabbit Stew
Rabbit is excellent in a hearty stew. Slowly simmer it with potatoes, carrots, celery and onions in a seasoned broth or gravy. Perfect once those cooler Ozarks evenings start rolling in.
5. Oven-Roasted Rabbit
Keep it simple with butter or olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and your favorite herbs. Roast it alongside potatoes, onions and carrots, adding a little broth to the pan to help keep the lean meat moist and tender.
The easiest way to think about cooking rabbit: if you have a favorite chicken recipe that uses slow cooking or added moisture, there’s a good chance rabbit will work in it too.
Limited Supply Available
Since this is our first batch, we only have a limited number available. Once they’re sold out, we’ll have to wait for the next batch to be ready.
If you’ve been curious about rabbit but weren’t sure what to do with it, give one of these simple recipes a try. You might just find a new favorite for the family dinner table.
